Our Walk Tee Shirt
Our youngest son was diagnosed with diabetes about 2 and half years ago. We are walking in our state's capital in a week and a half to help raise money for a cure. I hope to talk about diabetes myths and the different types of diabetes in a future post. I just finished our shirts for the walk today. I can't believe that it took all day but it finished and they look great. We are all wearing yellow shirts with this picture on the front. Our names on the right sleeve and JDRF 2010 Cure For Caleb on the back.

Lesson Learned
Sometimes you think that you have everything all worked out when it comes to certain situations with your children. That's what I thought when we signed C. up for Tee Ball. His brother and sister played at his age and had a good time. C. was all excited when we told him he was going to play baseball. I should have known we needed to prepare him a little for Tee Ball when he asked one night what a BAT was? He counted down the days until his first practice. I thought all was well until we showed up at his practice about 5 minutes late due to road construction. All the kids were already out on the field. (He had never seen a baseball field before this except for on TV) He refuse to go out. Now we had a problem. He was being disobedient but I also realized that he had not been properly prepared. I had failed. I was not letting him quit as some would have done. So I took him out on the field and stood with him until practice was over. Went home and took appropriate actions so that their would be no problems with obedience at the next practice. Dad brought home a new blue bat and ball the next morning. We all went out and played ball and showed him how it was done and practiced a few more times through the week. When it was time for the next practice we arrived a half an hour early and B. practiced with him on the field. Kids started showing up and his coaches came and it was time for practice to began. I could tell he was nervous but he was well prepared for the situation at hand and did a wonderful job. He was the first one to bat and did a great job. When it was time to play in the outfield he went after the ball every time. The coaches were amazed at the difference in him and asked what he had ate for dinner. I learned a great lesson. Always prepare your children when ever possible for all situations even the small things like playing Tee Ball.
